NHS chief to investigate overnight discharges

Sir Bruce Keogh, medical director of the NHS, has promised to do further research into why hundreds of thousand of patients are being discharged overnight. This is most likely done in order to free up beds, rather than in the best interest of the patients.

The Times published that there are large differences between the various trusts and the discharging rates. The Patients Association warns that, with upcoming budget cuts, the overnight discharges may rise.

I personally don't hold the NHS in high regards at all so this news doesn't come as a surprise. It's nice to have healthcare that's available for everyone, but depending on where you go, the quality may not the best.The doctors are often unfriendly and on multiple occasions my British friends have been given the wrong medication or tests results have gone wrong, giving me the impression that in general the staff does not get paid enough to care about the best interest for their patients. That all aside, I'm shocked to hear that they're trying to save money through, what is basically, kicking people out in the middle of the night and hope the hospitals who do this will be stopped soon.
